Director Electrosynthesis Department @ MPI for Chemical Energy Conversion

Prof. Dr. Siegfried R. Waldvogel is director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion heading the Department of Electrosynthesis. After his degree in chemistry at the University of Konstanz, he received his Ph.D. from the Ruhr University Bochum/Max Planck Institut für Kohlenforschung. After postdoctoral research at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA, he started his own research at the universities of Münster, Bonn, and Mainz. In 2023, he moved to Mülheim an der Ruhr. His research focuses on electro-organic transformations on different scales, including bio-based feedstocks. He initiated and coordinates large research projects such as the BMBFTR future cluster Electrifying Technical Organic Syntheses (ETOS). In 2018, he co-founded ESy-Labs GmbH, which provides custom electrosynthesis and contract R&D.
