Dr. Franz Roters

Postdoctoral Researcher @ MPI for Sustainable Materials

Prof. Franz Roters studied physics at the Technical University Braunschweig and completed his PhD at RWTH Aachen University under the supervision of Prof. Günther Gottstein. After a short intermezzo in the R&D department of VAW aluminium (Bonn) he joined the MPI as group leader for Theory and Simulation in 2000. After his habilitation he became apl. professor at RWTH Aachen University in 2022.

His research focuses on the development of constitutive models for the plastic deformation of metals. To facilitate the implementation of these models he initiated the development of DAMASK (Düsseldorf Advanced Material Simulation Kit), by now a world leading multi-field simulation package for crystal plasticity.
