Postdoc @ MPI for Polymer Research

Aleksandra Pavićević is a postdoctoral researcher in the Biomolecular Mechanics group headed by Prof. Frauke Gräter at Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research. She received her Bachelor, Master’s and PhD degrees at the Faculty of Physical Chemistry, University of Belgrade in Serbia in the group of Prof. Miloš Mojović, where she was also employed as a Research Trainee, Teaching Assistant and Assistant Professor. Her research and teaching is focused on the Biophysical Chemistry, and primarily radical detection using Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy and imaging. Major part of her work was focused on the assessment of redox status in vivo using animal models of different neurodegenerative diseases and malignancies. On the other hand she has a lot of experience in the studies of proteins and membranes using EPR and spin labeling/spin probing procedures. After starting the postdoctoral position at Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research her focus shifted towards detection and identification of free radicals (using EPR) that occur in biomolecular polymers (in different plant and animal tissues) upon application of mechanical stress.
