Group leader @ MPI of Colloids and Interfaces, Department Sustainable and Bio-inspired Materials
Wenyang Xu is a Group Leader at the Department of Sustainable and Bio-inspired Materials, Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, appointed in 2024. He earned his PhD with Distinction from Åbo Akademi University in 2019. He completed a joint postdoctoral fellowship at Aalto University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, funded through a Finland–Sweden centenary initiative (Sweden’s centenary gift to Finland). He subsequently secured his first independent PI funding from the Research Council of Finland. His research develops sustainable materials by exploiting the intrinsic molecular structure and interfacial phenomena of cellulose- and hemicellulose-based polymers and colloids, bridging fundamental insights with applications.
