Group Leader Micromechanics of Biological Materials @ MPI of Colloids and Interfaces, Department of Biomaterials
Shahrouz Amini is a materials researcher and group leader at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, Department of Biomaterials. Drawing on his knowledge in mechanical engineering and the materials science of physical interfaces, along with his passion for biological materials, he explores how complex functions and materials’ multifunctionality can be encoded at surfaces and interfaces. His group, entitled “micromechanics of biological and bioinspired materials,” has attracted several national and international awards and research funding, including a research grant from the Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP).
